New Delhi, Jun 19 (PTI) The BJP on Friday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent foreign visit as “highly productive” and said its “positive and far-reaching outcomes” will be visible in India in the coming days.
Prime Minister Modi has returned after concluding his two-nation visit to France and Slovakia from June 13 to 18, during which he attended the G7 Summit and held bilateral meetings with several world leaders.
Describing the prime minister’s foreign tour as “very fruitful”, BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said it has added a new dimension to India’s economic progress as well as advancements in technology, space and skill development sectors in the country.
“Establishment of a significant relationship with a country like Slovakia in eastern Europe is a multi-dimensional achievement that India has attained today during the prime minister’s foreign tour,” he told reporters at the BJP headquarters here.
It was a highly productive visit of the prime minister, Trivedi said.
“Very positive, far-reaching results of this visit will become visible in the times to come,” the BJP Rajya Sabha MP added.
Trivedi said that one of the “most significant outcomes” of the prime minister’s foreign visit was the signing of a bilateral agreement between India and France on artificial intelligence and data protection, which, the BJP leader said, has elevated cooperation between the two countries to a new level.
“At a time when global competition in the field of artificial intelligence is intensifying, this partnership has the potential to create a new and influential pole in the AI landscape, which has thus far been largely dominated by one or two countries,” he said.
Trivedi said France has decided to establish an aeronautical space research centre in India, along with a national skill development centre in Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh.
These initiatives are expected to strengthen India’s capabilities in aeronautics, space technology and skill development, while also playing an important role in facilitating technology transfer and deepening technological cooperation between India and France, he said.
Trivedi said, “France also decided to provide opportunities for 30,000 Indian students annually in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).” This will create a new destination in Europe for Indian students, whose academic aspirations have traditionally been focused on countries such as the United States, the UK and Canada, the BJP leader said.
“In addition to other significant outcomes, positive and encouraging developments were also visible in India–United States relations, which had been the subject of various concerns and speculations over the past year,” he added.
Trivedi said that Prime Minister Modi also met with CEOs, business leaders and innovators from 50 major global companies during his foreign visit.
“The significance of these interactions can be understood through the India Innovates programme, which brought together 120 curated start-ups focused on deep-tech innovation, 45 institution-led technology projects and an ecosystem comprising more than 2,000 stakeholders,” he said.
The BJP leader said that the programme facilitated nearly 1,350 B2B meetings among start-ups, investors and corporate leaders.
“A total of 70 start-ups and 50 global investors participated, resulting in the signing of 14 MoUs, while an additional 32 MoUs were signed between international corporations and start-ups,” he said.
These outcomes have laid a “strong and effective foundation” for India’s future economic growth and innovation-driven development, he added. PTI PK PK KSS KSS
