Jaipur, Apr 24 (PTI) Heatwave conditions persisted across Rajasthan, as the temperature crossed 40 degrees Celsius in most parts of the state, the meteorological centre here said on Friday, adding that Sri Ganganagar city recorded the highest at 44.5 degrees Celsius.
According to the Jaipur meteorological centre, heatwave and warm night conditions were recorded at a few places across the state in the past 24 hours, while the weather remained largely dry.
Many places are currently witnessing maximum temperatures in the range of 40-42 degrees Celsius, which is around normal for this time of the year, it said.
The weather office has forecast a further rise of 1-2 degrees Celsius in maximum temperatures over the next few days, with heatwave conditions likely at isolated places in western and north-eastern parts of the state for the next two to three days.
In the north-western regions, maximum temperatures may reach 44-45 degrees Celsius during this period, it added.
The Met department also said that due to the impact of a weak western disturbance, dust storms accompanied by thunder are likely at isolated places in the border areas of western Rajasthan on April 25, and in the western and northern parts between April 26 and 28.
Light rain or drizzle is also expected at some places during this period, the meteorological centre said. PTI AG KSI KSI
