Gurugram, Jul 14 (PTI) Two persons were taken into custody after a video showing a reckless ‘tug-of-war’ contest between a Thar and a tractor linked by an iron chain on a road in Haryana’s Nuh district went viral, police said on Tuesday.

According to police, Anwar, the owner of the Thar, and Shahid, the owner of the tractor, had allegedly challenged each other to determine which vehicle was more powerful.

To settle this challenge, they tethered the Thar and the tractor together with an iron chain on the Reegad-Agon road in Ferozepur Jhirka town, and began a test of strength.

During the stunt, the tractor lost its balance and veered into the roadside ditch. No one was injured in the incident, police said.

They further said that several people were seen recording the incident, which later surfaced on social media.

“Acting on the viral video, the police immediately seized the Thar and tractor used in the stunt. The Thar driver, identified as Anwar, a resident of Hasanpur Bilonda village, and the tractor driver, Shahid, a resident of Agon village, were taken into custody. Legal action was initiated against them under the Motor Vehicles Act and other relevant provisions,” said Inspector Subhash Chand, SHO of Ferozpur Jhirka Sadar police station.

Changed urged people not to attempt similar stunts that can endanger lives.

“Nuh police appeals to the public, especially the youths, to refrain from performing such dangerous stunts on public roads. Strict action will continue to be taken against those who compromise road safety,” the Nuh police spokesperson said. PTI COR KSI KSI
