Palamu, Jul 11 (PTI) Five suspected drug peddlers, including a man from Haryana, were arrested in separate raids in Jharkhand’s Palamu district, police said on Saturday.

SP Kapil Choudhary said the raids were carried out under ‘Operation Prahar’ to curb the sale and trafficking of narcotic substances.

“Raids were conducted in the Medininagar Sadar and Panki police station areas, leading to the seizure of 724 grams of opium, around 50 kg of poppy husk (doda), Rs 15,450 in cash, a car, a motorcycle and other incriminating materials,” he told reporters.

In the Panki police station area, police arrested Pargat Singh, a resident of Rori village in Haryana’s Sirsa district, and Aasin Alam of Tarhasi in the district.

In a separate raid in the Medininagar Sadar police station area, police arrested Aditya Kumar, Nitish Kumar and Raushan Kumar, all locals.

All five accused were produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody on Saturday, the SP said. PTI CORR ANB SOM
