Chandigarh, May 12 (PTI) Haryana Labour Minister Anil Vij on Tuesday said the state government is committed to providing better, accessible and timely healthcare services to workers and their families.
His remarks came after he chaired a high-level review meeting of Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) department officers and conducted a detailed review of the progress of all ongoing projects, according to an official statement.
Calling workers the backbone of the national as well as the state economy, the minister said ensuring their health security is among the government’s top priorities.
With the cooperation of the central government, construction and expansion work of ESIC hospitals and dispensaries is being carried out rapidly at 34 locations across the state so that workers can avail modern healthcare facilities near their homes, according to officials.
During the meeting, Vij directed the officers to ensure that all construction work and projects being implemented through ESIC are completed within the stipulated timeframe on a priority basis so that workers can benefit from these facilities at the earliest.
According to an official statement, the labour minister instructed officers to prepare a detailed list of projects facing any kind of delay, hurdle or pending work and ensure their timely completion through regular monitoring.
He said that he would personally review the progress of these projects every month and that negligence at any level would not be tolerated.
During the meeting, officers said that more than 98 per cent of civil work for the 100-bed ESIC Hospital in Jhajjar district’s Bahadurgarh, has been completed. Similarly, around 90 per cent of the civil work for the 150-bed ESIC Hospital being built in Rewari district’s Bawal has also been completed, and the remaining work will be finished soon.
Additionally, a 150-bed ESIC hospital in Rohtak and a state-of-the-art 500-bed ESIC hospital in Manesar have also been proposed, and work on these projects will begin shortly, according to the officials.
Nearly 95 per cent of the construction work of ESIC dispensaries at Barhi and Rai in Sonipat has been completed, while the ESIC dispensary in Panchkula has already become operational, they said.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of works for a 100-bed ESIC hospital in Ambala, a 100-bed hospital in Hisar, a 150-bed ESIC hospital in Sonipat and a 30-bed ESIC hospital in Karnal.
Along with this, the progress of ESIC dispensaries in various regions was also reviewed, the statement said.
Vij said the government’s objective is not limited to constructing buildings only, but it also wants to ensure quality healthcare services, modern medical equipment, specialist doctors and better medical facilities for workers.
He added that the state government is continuously taking concrete steps for the welfare and social security of workers, and the expansion of ESIC facilities is a major step in this direction. PTI SUN PRK
