Chandigarh, Aug 17 (PTI) A High-Powered Purchase Committee meeting chaired by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday approved the purchase of 26,161 transformers for the state’s power corporations in a bid to strengthen the electricity infrastructure.

The committee also approved the procurement of 5,000 to 7,500 T&P kits for the safety of linemen and assistant linemen, according to an official statement.

Ministers Mahipal Dhanda, Vipul Goel and Shyam Singh Rana, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Arun Kumar Gupta, and other senior officers were present at the meeting.

In addition to the purchase of the transformers, the government will procure 5,000 to 7,500 special T&P kits, comprising 14 items, to ensure the safety of linemen and assistant linemen working with Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam.

Saini said the Haryana government is giving special attention to ensuring uninterrupted power supply to the people of the state and further strengthening the power system.

The government is making efforts to ensure that an adequate number of transformers are available wherever required and that all power corporations maintain sufficient backup for emergencies.

He said that the safety of employees working in the power corporations is also a priority. Keeping this in view, transformers and safety kits for the state were given priority approval at the HPPC meeting, he said. PTI SUN RUK RUK

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
