Nammakal, Oct 13 (PTI) Two men from Haryana were arrested for allegedly duping people at ATM kiosks in this district, police said on Tuesday.

The suspects, identified as Sandeep (40) and Karamveer (42), operated by pretending to help people withdraw money, secretly noting their PINs, and swapping their original ATM cards with dummy ones to steal funds from their accounts.

According to police, following a two-month technical investigation and intensive surveillance, local authorities apprehended the accused and recovered 361 ATM/debit cards, a TVS Apache two-wheeler, two cell phones, a POS machine, and Rs 47,500.

Investigation revealed that the duo faced a total of 41 fraud cases across multiple states, including 29 cases against Sandeep and 12 against Karamveer, alongside four cases registered within Namakkal district.

The Superintendent of police commended the district police team for tracking down and arresting the interstate offenders through continuous technical analysis over the past month.

As part of the public advisory from the Namakkal district police, citizens are strongly advised to exercise extreme vigilance while withdrawing cash at ATM centres and to never hand over their cards to unfamiliar individuals offering assistance. PTI SNR SNR ROH

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
