Gurugram, May 6 (PTI) The Gurugram-Sohna elevated flyover road caved in again on Wednesday, this time near Subhash Chowk, locals said.
Authorities have barricaded the area for the safety of pedestrians and to prevent vehicles from falling into the deep pit.
The four-lane road had caved in earlier as well. In December 2023, a five-feet-deep and two-feet-wide pothole was formed in front of SD Adarsh Vidyalaya.
Eight months later, another two-feet-wide and eight-metres-deep pit was formed on the road at the same area.
Previously, in August 2020, a section of the road collapsed during the construction of the flyover, causing work to be suspended temporarily.
A sewer pipeline laid under the road often crumbles down, leading to the sinking of the road, locals said.
Some residents alleged that after the BJP government was formed in Haryana in 2014, the then minister for the public works department, Rao Narbir Singh, got the Gurugram-Sohna road constructed in a hurry, without conducting proper inspections. PTI COR RUK RUK
