Palghar, Apr 24 (PTI) The deputy chairperson of the Maharashtra legislative council, Neelam Gorhe, has assured all possible support to the victims of a recent blast at an unauthorised firecracker factory in Palghar district.

Two workers were killed and several others seriously injured in the blast that occurred on April 21. Gorhe visited the accident site at Konsai village in Wada taluka on Thursday. Later, she met the injured workers at the hospital.

“I assured the injured workers and their families of all possible support. I will follow up at the government level to ensure adequate assistance is provided,” Gorhe, who belongs to the Shiv Sena, told reporters.

She said a report on the incident would be submitted to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who heads the Shiv Sena.

Gorhe said she also held a meeting with police, revenue and labour department officials, where she stressed the need for stricter monitoring of industrial units. “Labour laws must be strictly implemented in units employing more than ten workers,” she said. PTI COR NR
