Goa CM Sawant stresses regular yoga practice for healthier society

Panaji, Jun 21 (PTI) Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday joined International Yoga Day celebrations near Panaji, saying regular practice is key to building a healthier and happier society.

Sawant, Union Minister Shripad Naik, state Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar along with other participated in the Yoga Day event at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium located near the state capital.

The CM appealed to people to incorporate yoga into their daily lives and adopt a healthy lifestyle to ensure physical, mental and emotional well-being. Regular yoga practice is key to building a healthier and happier society, he emphasised.

Sawant said he has been practising yoga daily and has been a witness to its mental and physical benefits.

The chief minister also congratulated the citizens of Goa for participating in the event on a large-scale.

State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane participated in a yoga event organised by the Department of Ayush at the Community Centre, Taleigao, near Panaji.

He said the participation across Goa was encouraging.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech in Kolkata on the Yoga Day, Rane said it was a great moment as the PM spoke on how yoga is not just a science but a way of life. PTI RPS GK
