Goa Archbishop extends Diwali greetings, calls for communal harmony

Stay updated with ThePrint:

Panaji, Nov 7 (PTI) Archbishop of Goa and Daman Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrao on Saturday extended Diwali greetings to the Hindu community, stressing the need to strengthen communal harmony, fraternity, and mutual respect in the state.

In a message issued along with Auxiliary Bishop Simiao Fernandes, the Archbishop said Diwali reminds people of “the triumph of light over darkness and truth over untruth.”

Referring to the Vatican Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue, Ferrao said there was a shared responsibility to forge pathways of peace, adding that true peace was built through authentic dialogue, mutual respect, and everyday encounters.

“Goa stands as a beacon of communal harmony. Let us use this festive season to strengthen our bonds of fraternity, working hand-in-hand to dispel prejudice and care for one another,” he said.

Ferrao expressed hope that the festival of lights would enlighten people’s hearts and bring health, lasting peace, and happiness to all families. PTI RPS ARU
