Mumbai, Aug 3 (PTI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday directed officials to give priority to a citizen-friendly administrative layout while renovating the former Air India building, which is proposed to accommodate various state government departments.
Chairing a meeting at his official residence ‘Varsha’, the CM reviewed the proposed renovation plans and said the project should focus on making government functioning faster, more efficient and easier for citizens.
He asked Chief Secretary Rajesh Agrawal to convene a meeting of the concerned departments and prepare a detailed plan before a final decision is taken.
An official statement said Fadnavis made it clear the government should identify which departments can be shifted to the renovated building in a manner that improves administrative efficiency and provides greater convenience to the public.
“The administrative structure in the building should be simple, efficient and citizen-centric. The final decision on shifting government offices would be taken after detailed planning,” he said.
Public Works Minister Shivendrasinhraje Bhosale, Minister of State Indranil Naik, Chief Secretary Rajesh Agrawal and other senior officials attended the meeting, in which architects made presentations on the proposed renovation plans for the Air India building. PTI MR BNM
