Dhanbad (Jharkhand), Sep 14 (PTI) Bunty Khan, brother of fugitive gangster Prince Khan, who allegedly runs an extortion racket from the UAE, was arrested at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata, police said on Monday.
Bunty Khan was arrested by Dhanbad police with the assistance of Kolkata Police on Sunday night and brought to Dhanbad, they said.
Dhanbad SSP Prabhat Kumar told PTI that after initial questioning at Bank More police station by senior police officers, Bunty Khan was taken on foot to his alleged hideouts.
A senior police officer of the rank of DSP, however, said that he was paraded through the city streets to dispel fear surrounding gangster Prince Khan and send a message that nobody would be spared for taking the law into their own hands.
Police investigations found that Bunty Khan was preparing to flee the country using a forged passport and other documents.
“His objective was to reach his absconding brother, Prince Khan, who has long been on the police’s radar for activities such as threatening businessmen in Dhanbad and surrounding areas, extorting levies, and issuing death threats while operating from abroad,” the police officer said.
Bunty was released from jail in January after spending nearly four years in custody. He had secured bail in various cases, police said.
