Amaravati, May 12 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh Congress Vice President Kolanukonda Sivaji on Tuesday alleged that frequent question paper leaks of entrance examinations have become a recurring trend under the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government.
His remarks come in the wake of the National Testing Agency cancelling the NEET (UG) 2026 exam held on May 3, due to evidence of large-scale paper leak that compromised the integrity of the test.
Sivaji claimed that examinations had to be reconducted 48 times due to 89 such incidents, describing these developments as a ‘clear failure of the central government’s administration’.
“Under the Modi Government, repeated (question) paper leaks have occurred in various entrance and recruitment examinations…out of nearly 89 such incidents, examinations had to be reconducted 48 times,” said Sivaji in a Congress press release.
He said repeatedly cancelling examinations after paper leaks and announcing fresh dates is causing severe mental stress to students and destroying the hopes of aspirants who worked hard and prepared sincerely for these examinations.
According to him, the Centre lacks sincerity towards protecting the future of students.
He demanded strict action against the officials responsible for these incidents, and asked Union Ministers to take moral responsibility.
Further, he sought a public apology from the Centre to students across the country.
Sivaji termed the decision to cancel the NEET examination as “highly unjust”.
He noted that around 27.5 lakh students appeared for the examination, conducted across 561 cities in India and 14 places abroad while nearly 70,000 students attended the exam in Andhra Pradesh alone.
Criticising reports of question paper leakage even before the examination amid allegations that the question papers were sold for amounts ranging from Rs 30,000 to Rs 3 lakh, Sivaji called it a “matter of great shame”.
Moreover, Sivaji expressed concern that although the NEET examination was conducted on May 3, the Central Government responded only after 10 days. PTI STH ROH
