Shimla, Sep 2 (PTI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday said that the state government will launch the ‘Mukhyamantri Ka Apna Parivar Sukhi Parivar Yojana’ on October 2, under which extremely poor families will get 300 units of free electricity, while women will receive Rs 1,500 a month.
Chairing a meeting of the Himachal Pradesh Rajput Welfare Board, Sukhu said, “Under the scheme, around 2 lakh extremely poor families will be provided 300 units of free electricity, while women will receive Rs 1,500 per month. Around 90,000 such families have not received the benefits of any government scheme so far.” The state government is committed to the welfare of every section of society, he said.
“Over the past three-and-a-half years, several schemes have been implemented on the ground in this direction, and efforts are being made to ensure that their benefits reach all the eligible persons,” Sukhu said.
Listing some of the state government’s initiatives, Sukhu said it is promoting natural farming and providing minimum support price (MSP) for agricultural produce procured through the process.
“The government is providing an MSP of Rs 80 per kg for wheat, Rs 50 per kg for maize and Rs 150 per kg for raw turmeric.
“For the first time, an MSP of Rs 30 per kg for ginger is being provided. Among the states, Himachal Pradesh is providing the highest support price for milk. Cow milk is being procured at Rs 61 per litre, while buffalo milk is being procured at Rs 71 per litre,” the chief minister said.
Sukhu also said that the Indira Gandhi Sukh Shiksha Yojana has been launched to ensure that children of widowed women are not deprived of education.
“Under the scheme, eligible children up to the age of 18 are being provided Rs 1,000 per month. In addition, for those between 18 and 27 years of age, the state government is bearing the cost of higher education in government institutions, both within Himachal Pradesh and in other states,” Sukhu said.
