Imphal, Jun 26 (PTI) Security forces arrested four militants from three districts of Manipur for their alleged involvement in extortion activities and recruitment in various proscribed outfits, police said on Friday.
A member of the banned Sorepa was apprehended from his locality of Khunou Umathel Mathak Leikai in Kakching district on Thursday, a police statement said.
One active cadre of the outlawed KYKL was arrested from Wangjing Sabal Leikai in Thoubal district on Thursday, it said.
One recruiter of the proscribed Prepak (Pro) was picked up from his locality at Top Makha in Imphal East on Wednesday, the police said.
An active cadre of the banned NRFM was held from Yairipok in Thoubal district on Wednesday, the statement said, adding that a pistol and a magazine loaded with three rounds of bullets were recovered from his possession.
Meanwhile, security forces recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from a stretch between Phayeng and Kharang Koireng Tairenpokpi under the Lamsang Police Station limits in Imphal West district on Thursday, it said.
Three rifles, one 9 mm pistol, four magazines, and ammunition were recovered during the operation.
Security forces have been conducting search operations in Manipur since ethnic violence broke out two years ago.
