Pilibhit, Sep 12 (PTI) Four men have been sentenced to life imprisonment by a court here for killing a man two years ago after allegedly tying him to an electric pole and brutally assaulting him, officials said on Saturday.
“District and Sessions Judge Ravindra Kumar on Thursday convicted Madan Lal, Kallu Dheemar, Surajpal and Surendra, and sentenced them to rigorous life imprisonment,” District Government Counsel Mahendra Pal Gangwar said.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 on each of them.
According to the prosecution, the accused went to the house of Ramchandra in Padri village on July 10, 2024, alleging that his son Anil had assaulted their relative, Gangadaei.
They allegedly abused and threatened the family before tying Anil to a pole and beating him with sticks. He was later dragged through the village streets and assaulted before being taken to the road, where he was left dead, the prosecution said.
Police had filed a chargesheet against six accused, but two of them, Ramkumar Dheemar and Gangadaei, died during the trial, according to officials. PTI COR CDN PRK
