Idukki (Keralam), Sep 28 (PTI) Four youth were arrested for allegedly climbing atop a cross at Pallivasal here and taking photographs, which were later circulated on social media, police said on Monday.
The arrested were identified as Mohammed Ajmin, Mohammed Nisan, Mohammed Irfan and Mohammed Mukhtar, all from various parts of Kozhikode district, police said.
The incident took place on September 19, when the youths, who had arrived to see the blooming Neelakurinji flowers, allegedly climbed atop the cross and took photographs, officials said.
The cross was installed on a hill by St Anne’s Church at Pallivasal.
The area was not normally accessible to the public, police said.
The youths allegedly shared the photographs on social media, following which police received information about the incident.
A case was registered, and the four youths were arrested from their native places on Sunday, officials said.
A case has been registered against them for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.
