Patna, Jul 10 (PTI) A former ‘mukhiya’ (village head), who was wanted in a criminal case, was found dead in Patna’s Bihta area on Friday, police said.

The body of Sanjay Yadav, the former mukhiya of Rahu panchayat, was found near a borewell in Raghopur village under the jurisdiction of the Bihta police station area.

Family members alleged that he was murdered and some locals were involved in the incident.

Locals blockaded the Bikram-Bihta Road, demanding action against the accused. Angry protesters also burnt tyres and disrupted traffic, a police officer said.

A large police contingent reached the spot and was trying to disperse the protesters.

Yadav was wanted by the police in an Arms Act case and had been absconding for a long time, he said.

Speaking to reporters, Bihta Station House Officer (SHO) Amit Kumar said, “Police are investigating the case from all angles… The exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained.” PTI PKD ACD
