Ahmedabad, May 13 (PTI) Former Gujarat High Court judge Biren Vaishnav was on Wednesday sworn in as the new Lokayukta of Gujarat at a ceremony held in Gandhinagar.

He will have a tenure of five years, said a notification issued by the General Administration Department.

Governor Acharya Devvrat administered the oath of office to Justice (retd) Vaishnav at the Lok Bhavan, an official release said.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, cabinet ministers and senior government officials were present.
