Azamgarh (UP), May 16 (PTI) Five people, including a couple, were killed after their speeding car rammed into a container from behind near the Kandharapur area here on Saturday, police said.
According to police, the accident occurred on the Purvanchal Expressway near Sierha village when the car crashed into a moving container. The impact was so severe that the upper portion of the car was completely torn off.
Personnel from Kandharapur and Kotwali police stations, along with relief teams of the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), reached the spot and pulled out the occupants trapped inside the mangled vehicle.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Pankaj Srivastava said all the deceased were residents of Haryana and efforts were underway to establish their identities.
