Mumbai, Oct 20 (PTI) A major fire broke out at a godown housing scrap material in Sakinaka area in Mumbai’s Andheri on Tuesday evening, officials said.

There is no report of anyone getting injured in the fire.

This is the third fire incident reported in the metropolis during the day.

The fire brigade personnel received information about the blaze at the godown on Kairani Road at 6.18 pm, the officials said.

It was a level-II fire indicating a significant danger to the area, they said.

At least eight fire engines and other vehicles were rushed to the spot, where a firefighting operation was currently underway.

Fire brigade personnel, police, Adani Electricity staff, a 108 ambulance and ward staff were mobilised to the spot, a civic official said.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known, he said.

Earlier in the day, a fire broke out in an electrical duct of a 13-storey residential building in Mumbai’s Kurla, leaving nine people, including three children, injured. Another fire erupted at Amarsons store, a prominent department store on Bhulabhai Desai Road in south Mumbai. PTI KK NP

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
