New Delhi, Sep 13 (PTI) Six people, including women and children, were injured after they jumped from a building in panic when a fire broke out in an adjacent godown-cum-factory in northwest Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar on Sunday, police said.
The blaze broke out on the ground and first floors of the factory manufacturing judo dresses and boxing gloves.
No one was inside the premises when the fire broke out, they said.
“However, panic spread among people in the building adjacent the factory, prompting six persons, including women and children, to jump from the building, resulting in injuries,” a senior police officer said.
All the injured were shifted to hospitals and are out of danger, he said.
The Delhi Fire Service said it received a call regarding the blaze at 11:05 am, following which 15 fire tenders were rushed to the spot.
Firefighting operations were launched immediately and the blaze has now been completely extinguished by the fire tenders, police said.
Further details regarding the circumstances leading to the fire and the extent of damage were being ascertained. Police are also verifying the identities and details of those injured in the incident.PTI BM DV DV
