Fire breaks out at shop in northeast Delhi

Stay updated with ThePrint:

New Delhi, Nov 6 (PTI) A fire broke out at a lace shop in northeast Delhi’s New Azadpur area on Friday morning, prompting the Delhi Fire Services to rush multiple fire tenders to the spot, officials said.

The fire was reported around 8.40 am from a shop in Shanti Mohalla, near Geeta Bal Bhawan School. No one was injured in the blaze.

“A total of 16 fire tenders were sent to the spot. The fire was doused by 12 pm and cooling operations are ongoing,” the Delhi Fire Service said.

Speaking to PTI, market head Abhay Jain said the shop deals in garment lace. The fire broke out reportedly due to a short circuit, he said.

He added that the shop was closed at the time and no one was present inside. “Fire tenders and police personnel reached the spot. The public has also been cooperating with the rescue and firefighting efforts.

“Fortunately, no one was injured, but the financial loss is expected to be substantial as the fire broke out in a four-storey building,” Jain said. PTI SSJ SSJ SKY
