Noida, May 16 (PTI) A fire broke out at two factories in Sector 63 here on Saturday afternoon, prompting a major firefighting operation, police said, adding that no casualties were reported in the incident.

The blaze erupted at units operating from D-139, identified as Shaurya Exports, and D-140, Eagle Business Corporation, a bag-manufacturing company, under the Sector 63 police station area.

Chief Fire Officer Pradeep Kumar said the fire broke out around 1.45 pm at Eagle Business Corporation in the D-Block area of Sector 63.

“The fire originated in the setback area on the ground floor of the factory premises,” he said.

A total of 16 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to control the blaze, the officer said.

The fire was brought under control within about an hour, he said.

Firefighters also sprayed water on nearby buildings to prevent the flames from spreading, Kumar added.

Smoke from the blaze was visible from a considerable distance. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, though a short circuit is suspected to have triggered it, officials said. PTI COR KIS APL APL
