Dhar, Aug 23 (PTI) A man and his four-year-old son were among three people killed on Sunday after an SUV rammed their motorcycle in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district, while his 12-year-old daughter was seriously injured, police said.

The incident occurred near Dagariya Van village on the Magod-Amjhera-Manawar state highway, around 40 km from the Dhar district headquarters, said Zirabad police outpost in-charge Ravindra Chaudhary.

The deceased are identified as Antar Singh (32), his son Ashok (4), and a relative, Bhuru Singh (50). Antar’s daughter Resham (12) was seriously injured.

“They were travelling on a motorcycle to Rodda village to invite his (Antar’s) sister for Raksha Bandhan when a Bolero allegedly hit their motorcycle from behind near Dagariya Van,” Chaudhary said.

Citing the preliminary investigation, he said the motorcycle was thrown off the road after being hit by the SUV travelling from Amjhera towards Zirabad.

Resham Singh is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Gandhwani.

Police are recording eyewitnesses’ statements and investigating, the official added. PTI COR LAL NSK

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
