Shimla, Sep 7 (PTI) The family of a 38-year-old man, whose mutilated body was found in a gorge in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba last month, blocked the Chamba-Tissa highway at Atal Chowk in Tissa on Monday, demanding a CBI probe into his alleged murder.
Negi Ram’s body was found in the Jukyani area of Churah subdivision in August with severe head injuries, a severed arm and a disfigured face, while his motorcycle was found safely parked nearby.
According to the forensic report, Negi Ram was brutally attacked with sharp and pointed weapons.
Police have so far arrested two people, including a woman, in connection with the case.
Dissatisfied with the police investigation, family members and local villagers staged a protest on Monday and demanded that the case be handed over to the CBI for a broader and impartial probe.
They alleged that the woman named as an accused by the police could not have carried out such a brutal and heinous murder all alone.
Given the manner of the killing and the surrounding circumstances, the protesters said there was a strong possibility that more people were involved in the crime.
“The family suspects that additional individuals beyond those currently arrested or charged, including a female suspect, are involved given the brutal nature of the crime, and they are demanding a broader and impartial investigation,” a villager said. PTI BPL NB NB
