Thane, Jul 2 (PTI) A day after two students received an electric shock due to an electricity cable submerged in rainwater under a bridge, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) on Thursday suspended an executive engineer.

The students were walking through the rainwater collected under the Nerul L P Naka bridge when they came into contact with a live cable. Passersby rushed them to hospital and they were currently at the ICU of a private hospital in Vashi, officials said, adding that their condition was stable.

“As prima facie negligence of the Electricity Department was found in this matter, Pravin Hindurao Gade, Executive Engineer (Electricity) has been suspended and Electricity Inspector, Industries, Energy, Labour and Mining Department, has been appointed to investigate the matter,” the NMMC said in a release.

The civic body also said that it was bearing full expenses of the medical treatment for both the students. PTI COR KRK
