Gandhinagar, Jul 23 (PTI) Gujarat BJP chief Jagdish Vishwakarma on Thursday cited alleged exam paper leak incidents in states ruled by the Opposition while asserting that the Narendra Modi government was taking stringent steps to curb such malpractices.
Addressing a press conference here, Vishwakarma listed alleged paper leaks and exam irregularities in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Punjab, Kerala and Karnataka, and also slammed Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi for spreading anarchy.
“The tradition of paper leaks is a very serious issue for society, for the nation, and for every state. If we talk about Jammu and Kashmir, there was a paper leak in the Services Selection Board examination when the Congress and National Conference were in power. In Himachal Pradesh, the Himachal Pradesh School Education Board examination paper was leaked when the Congress government was in power,” he said.
In Jharkhand, where the Congress and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha government is in power, the JSSC Hindi and Science papers were leaked, he told reporters.
“In Telangana, where there is a Congress and CPI-supported government, a paper leak was reported in the Intermediate language subject examination paper and SSC language subject examination paper. There was a paper leak in the B.Ed. course examination conducted by the Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University Board,” Vishwakarma added.
In West Bengal, the police constable recruitment examination paper was leaked when the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government was in power, Vishwakarma said.
The Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board (SSSB) Group B exam paper also witnessed irregularities. he added.
In Kerala, irregularities were found in 26 examinations conducted by the State Public Service Commission, while in Karnataka, where the Congress is in power, the PUC pre-university board examination paper was leaked, the Gujarat BJP chief claimed.
These incidents are a matter of concern for the nation and Centre is taking stringent steps against it, he added, whereas the Opposition, instead of fulfilling responsibility, is trying to create disruption.
“Rahul Gandhi has an appropriate platform like Parliament to present his views, but instead of discharging his responsibility, the opposition leader only wants to create disruption. Instead of going to Jantar Mantar, Rahul Gandhi went to the Prime Minister’s residence,” he said, while asserting that politicisation of the students’ movement by the Congress and misleading youth is evident.
While the government has been continuously investigating the matter for the past several days, the Opposition has turned away from its duty, Vishwakarma said.
The notice for discussion under Rule 193 was given by MP’s from the treasury benches, whereas the Opposition never demanded such a discussion, he added.
“In a post on X this morning, PM Modi assured the people of the country that fast-track courts would be set up for paper leak cases, strict and swift punishment would be ensured for the guilty, and no one who plays with the future of the youth would be spared,” the state BJP president said.
PM Modi has given importance to the participation of the youth in building ‘Viksit Bharat’, Vishwakarma said while stressing on the need to identify the faces that are trying to misguide the youth. PTI KVM PD BNM
