Ahmedabad, Jul 14 (PTI) An empty passenger rail coach stationed at the Sabarmati Yard in Ahmedabad caught fire on Tuesday, an official said.
No injuries were reported in the incident, and train operations remained unaffected, he said.
“A standalone passenger rail coach stationed at the Sabarmati Yard caught fire at around 11.55 am. An investigation has been launched to ascertain the cause of the fire,” Divisional Railway Manager Ved Prakash told PTI.
According to the official, the coach had been stabled at the yard since July 8 and was locked at the time of the incident.
A Railway employee noticed smoke billowing from the coach and alerted authorities. Firefighters rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control within an hour using four fire tenders, said Divisional Fire Officer S B Jadeja. PTI KVM RSY
