Hamirpur (HP), Sep 2 (PTI) A woman has been booked for allegedly slapping a junior engineer (JE) of the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL) during an altercation while a team was trying to install a smart metre at a shop here, police said on Wednesday.
As per a complaint filed by victim Sunny Kumar, the alleged incident occurred when the team arrived at the shop in Ujhan village in Bijhri Tehsil on Monday to instal smart metres. He alleged that the family concerned argued with them, during which the woman slapped Kumar.
The JE has lodged a complaint at the Bhota police outpost, and the police have initiated an investigation based on it. Hamirpur SP Balbir Singh confirmed the report and said the police are investigating the matter.
The incident has been condemned by the Himachal Pradesh Electricity Board JE Association, which warned of staging a protest by wearing black ribbons on their arms if no action is taken in the incident. PTI/COR MNK MNK
