New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has seized more than Rs 4650 crore ahead of the first phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, which is higher than the total amount seized during the entire 2019 Lok Sabha elections, a PIB press release stated.
According to the information given by the ECI, the amount of money seized in the first phase of the elections is 45 percent of the total amount of funds seized during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

The commission is working closely with other government bodies and political parties to make sure that the elections are free of money power and electoral malpractices. The ECI has also informed that it has taken strict action against 106 government servants who were found to be assisting the politicians in campaigning.

According to the information given by the commission, these 106 government servants violated the Code of Conduct by helping the politicians in campaigning. At the same time, the ECI has also clarified that it will continue its strict surveillance of all modes of transport, including helicopters and non-scheduled flights, to prevent the misuse of money power in the elections.
