New Delhi: Over 10 lakh students have written the Common Undergraduate Entrance Test or CUET, which has so far been conducted in four phases, with two more to go.

In a tweet Monday, University Grants Commission Chairman Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar said Phase 5 of the examination was ongoing and that admit cards for Phase 6 (24, 25, 26 August) were released 21 August.

Nearly 2.36 lakh students have registered for Phase 5 – between 21 and 23 August.

It started well Sunday with 77,156 candidates registered in two slots. The second day, 22 August, was also scheduled in two slots for 79,459 candidates in 347 exam centres in 234 cities. Phase 5 ends on 23 Aug 2022 (Tuesday).

In both slots Monday, Uttar Pradesh had the maximum number of candidates, 36,036 in 91 exam centres followed by Delhi with 11,252 in 22 centres.

The National Testing Agency has conducted the exam from 15 July at 489 centres in 259 cities across India and 10 cities outside the country.

Issues with the exam

The exam, touted to be the common test for undergraduate admissions into central universities across the country, has been marred by technical and logistic glitches from day one.

Most recently, several CUET-UG aspirants claimed that exam dates mentioned on their admit cards were different from what they were told. In fact, the dates had already gone.

The second phase of CUET was marked by snags on the first two days, 4 and 5 August, with students complaining that they weren’t informed about changes in the examination schedule on time.

The first phase also saw major confusion with last minute changes in examination centres.
