Berhampur (Odisha), Jun 17 (PTI) Deputy Election Commissioner Gyanesh Bharti on Wednesday suggested to the Ganjam district administration to complete the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls work before the scheduled time.

The Deputy ECI said this while reviewing the SIR work in Ganjam, the most populated district in Odisha. He was on a two-day tour to the state, and the Ganjam programme was his last leg of the official programme.

He met Ganjam district collector-cum- district election officer Keerthi Vassan V, who briefed him on the status of the ongoing exercise. He was informed that before the start of the SIR works, the district had 29,99,782 voters across 13 assembly constituencies.

Meanwhile, the Booth-level officers (BLOs) have already distributed enumeration forms to 99.86 per cent of voters, and as many as 59.36 per cent of the forms have been digitised after verification. A total of 3,124 BLOs and 311 BLO supervisors have been deployed for the exercise in the district.

The district collector said, “We have apprised the deputy election commissioner of the progress of the SIR work during the review meeting.” Bharati also interacted with BLOs and supervisors, recorded their feedback and came to know about the ground-level challenges and suggested possible solutions. He expressed satisfaction over the progress made in the district, the collector said. PTI COR AAM AAM RG
