Driver killed after dumper falls into river in UP’s Hamirpur

Hamirpur (UP), Jun 4 (PTI) A 29-year-old dumper driver was killed after his vehicle broke through the railing of a bridge and plunged into the Betwa river in Uttar Pradesh’s Hamirpur district, police said on Thursday.

The accident occurred late Wednesday night when the dumper was travelling from Hamirpur towards Kanpur.

After being alerted by passersby, police along with local boatmen rescued the driver trapped inside the vehicle’s cabin and rushed him to the district hospital, where doctors declared him dead, they said.

The deceased was identified as Rajkumar (29), a resident of Miraj Purwa in Maudaha town of Hamirpur district.
