Chandigarh, Jul 17 (PTI) District-level programmes were organised across all districts of Haryana on Friday to mark the flagging off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India’s first hydrogen train from Jind as well as the inauguration and foundation stone-laying of several development projects related to railways, roads, healthcare and other infrastructure.
Governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw were also present at the event in Jind.
The prime minister flagged off India’s first hydrogen-powered train connecting Jind and Sonipat in Haryana, calling it a major leap towards green mobility and a successful example of the ‘Make in India’ campaign.
With this, India has joined a select group of countries that have operational hydrogen-powered trains and marks an important step towards the adoption of clean and sustainable mobility in the railway sector.
At the district-level programmes organised across the state, the ministers in-charge of the respective districts, MPs, MLAs, other public representatives, administrative officers and a large number of citizens watched the live telecast of the prime minister’s programme and collectively pledged to realise the resolve of Viksit Bharat-2047.
Haryana Energy Minister Anil Vij, who was present in Ambala, while hailing several developmental initiatives launched by the prime minister on the occasion, said that these projects would give new momentum to the development of the state, while the launch of the country’s first hydrogen train between Jind and Sonipat was a historic achievement for the nation.
Vij said that with the flagging off of the country’s first hydrogen train between Jind and Sonipat, Haryana’s name had been etched in history.
He said that conventional energy resources such as coal, oil and gas are limited and are gradually depleting. In such a situation, hydrogen-based clean energy will shape the future of transportation, he said.
Addressing the district-level programme in Sonipat, Development and Panchayats Minister Krishan Lal Panwar said that Friday was a proud day not only for Haryana but for the entire country.
The prime minister has ushered India into a new era of green transportation by flagging off the country’s first hydrogen fuel-powered train from Jind, he said.
Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda, who participated as the chief guest at the district-level programme in Panipat, said that the launch of the country’s first hydrogen train from Haryana was a matter of immense pride for the entire state.
He said that it was not merely a new rail service but a historic step towards clean energy, modern technology and Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
Dhanda said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the country was rapidly moving towards world-class infrastructure and the transformation taking place in the railway sector would prove to be a milestone for future generations.
Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana, who was present in Kaithal, said that the train was a major gift for India.
“India is changing and the country’s influence is being felt across the world. We will collectively realise the prime minister’s dream of building a developed India,” Rana said.
Addressing the district-level ceremony in Bhiwani, minister Shruti Choudhry said that Prime Minister Modi had taken a major step towards making India a developed nation by launching the hydrogen train.
Choudhry also said that with the inauguration of Pandit Neki Ram Sharma Government Medical College in Bhiwani by the prime minister, people would receive state-of-the-art healthcare facilities.
A large number of people reached the venue of public gathering in Jind using electric vehicles (EVs), thereby promoting green and sustainable transportation.
For the rally, 155 electric buses, 311 electric cars and 273 CNG buses were used. To ensure the smooth operation of EVs and provide charging facilities, 41 EV charging stations were set up, while six additional reserve charging stations were also kept available. Besides, 91 EV charging guns (nozzles) were arranged to ensure uninterrupted charging of the vehicles.
During the preparations ahead of the rally, around 135 electric buses were charged at EV charging stations on July 16 and 17, while nearly 150 electric cars also availed themselves of these charging facilities during the rally. PTI SUN KSS KSS
