New Delhi, Jul 16 (PTI) Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav on Thursday urged the Centre to initiate dialogue with Sonam Wangchuk and address the demands raised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), accusing the BJP-led Union government of remaining unmoved despite the ongoing hunger strike, and student deaths related to the alleged NEET paper leak.
Yadav, who visited the CJP protest at Jantar Mantar and met Wangchuk on the 19th day of his indefinite fast, said the decision to end the hunger strike rests with the organisers, but the government must initiate talks with the protesters immediately instead of remaining indifferent.
“The CJP will decide when to break the fast. I want to tell the government to show some sensitivity and start a dialogue. Stop being insensitive. You talk about Sanatan Dharma. Without mercy and empathy, Sanatan Dharma cannot survive,” she told reporters.
The MP alleged that the BJP was rattled by the support the movement has received from the youth, saying this was reflected in the blocking of the CJP’s X handle.
“The BJP was rattled when the platform got so much support from the youth. If our youths are determined, no one can defeat them. Akhilesh Yadav and the Samajwadi Party stand in solidarity with the youth,” she said.
Referring to SP chief Akhilesh Yadav’s appeal to Wangchuk to end his fast, Yadav said the request was made because the BJP “does not believe in satyagraha”.
She accused the ruling party of showing no empathy towards families of students who allegedly died by suicide following the alleged NEET paper leak. “So many students committed suicide, but not one BJP MP even tweeted a condolence message. It shows how insensitive they are,” she said.
The CJP has been protesting at Jantar Mantar demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination and has called for a Parliament march on July 20 — the first day of Monsoon Session. PTI AO ARB ARB
