New Delhi, June 20 (PTI) The Delhi Traffic Police has opened a new cut on GTK Road between metro pillars 102 and 103 as part of a road realignment plan aimed at improving traffic flow and reducing congestion on the arterial stretch, an official said on Saturday.

The newly-constructed cut has been operationalised as a formal T-point junction for vehicles entering GTK Road from Shah Alam Bandh Marg, according to the Traffic Police’s Northern Range.

Officials said the move was implemented following a technical assessment of traffic movement patterns in the area.

The new arrangement is expected to reduce congestion by eliminating the need for vehicles coming from Shah Alam Bandh Marg to travel further and take a U-turn near pillar number 100 before joining the main carriageway.

To facilitate the change, Delhi Traffic Police has deployed personnel at the site and installed advance cautionary signboards and reflective barricades to guide motorists through the revised traffic layout, officials said.

Commuters using GTK Road and those approaching from Shah Alam Bandh Marg have been advised to follow the updated lane discipline, cooperate with traffic personnel and plan their journeys accordingly.

The traffic realignment is part of ongoing efforts by the Delhi Traffic Police to streamline vehicular movement, improve road safety and address bottlenecks on major road corridors across the city, officials added. PTI SSJ ARB ARB
