New Delhi, Jun 22 (PTI) This year, Delhi has reported 45 malaria cases, 171 dengue cases, and 10 chikungunya cases, with no deaths recorded from any of these diseases so far, according to the latest weekly vector-borne disease report from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

The data for the week ending June 20 indicates that Delhi has experienced fewer cases of malaria, dengue, and chikungunya compared to the same period in recent years.

Malaria cases decreased from 77 during the same period last year to 66 in 2024. In June, eight new malaria cases were reported, bringing the total for the year to 45, with West Delhi having the highest number of malaria cases at 15.

According to the data, dengue cases have also remained lower this year compared to 2025, with 171 infections reported so far, compared to 208 during the same period last year.

Nine new dengue cases were recorded during the week, with 29 cases reported in June up until June 20. West Delhi and Central Delhi have reported the highest number of dengue cases, with 30 and 23, respectively.

Additionally, three new chikungunya cases were reported during the week, bringing the total number of cases this year to 10, compared to 14 during the same period last year.

The civic body has intensified anti-larval measures and surveillance activities in preparation for the monsoon season. From January 1 to June 20, domestic breeding checkers inspected over 1.78 crore households and discovered mosquito breeding in 40,487 homes.

The MCD has issued 37,840 legal notices for mosquito breeding and initiated 4,287 prosecutions. To control mosquito populations, more than 1.92 lakh houses were sprayed, and mosquito-eating fish have been maintained at 228 locations. PTI VBH MPL MPL
