New Delhi, Oct 12 (PTI) The Delhi government will launch 150 new electric buses and five high-capacity public EV charging stations, Transport Minister Pankaj Singh said on Monday.

According to the plan, 150 new zero-emission electric buses and charging stations at Swami Vivekanand ISBT Anand Vihar and four Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) depots at Nand Nagri, Rohini Sector-37, Nangloi, and Keshopur will be launched by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta soon.

“These initiatives mark another significant step towards strengthening Delhi’s public transport infrastructure and accelerating the transition to clean, sustainable and energy-efficient mobility,” Singh said in a statement.

The induction of 150 electric buses will take Delhi’s electric bus fleet to 5,238, and the overall fleet to 6,988 buses, including 1,750 CNG buses.

“Delhi continues to lead the country in electric bus deployment, supported by a structured and time-bound fleet augmentation programme. The induction of 150 new electric buses and the expansion of public EV charging infrastructure represent important milestones in Delhi’s journey towards clean and sustainable mobility,” the transport Minister said.

DTC’s total bus fleet is projected to expand to nearly 14,000 buses by financial year 2028–29, he added. PTI SSM VN

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
