New Delhi, Oct 11 (PTI) Delhi government will distribute 1300 pink electric autos to women and transgenders under its DURGA (Driving, Upliftment and Rozgar for Women and Transgender) E-Auto Scheme , Transport Minister Pankaj Singh said on Sunday.

In the first phase, 1,300 pink electric autos will be allotted, of which 1,170 will be reserved for women and 130 for transgender beneficiaries.

“The objective goes beyond allocation of electric vehicles. It is about creating opportunities for women and transgender persons to build independent livelihoods, participate more actively in the transport sector and become self-reliant,” Singh said.

By promoting electric autos operated by these beneficiaries, we also aim to strengthen public confidence, encourage cleaner mobility and make last-mile transportation more accessible and inclusive,” he added.

Under the first phase, a maximum of 90 electric autos for women and up to 10 for transgender beneficiaries will be allocated in each revenue district in accordance with prescribed quotas and eligibility conditions.

“The scheme will have a transparent and structured allocation process through a dedicated digital portal developed by the National Informatics Centre. Applications will be scrutinised by district-level committees chaired by respective District Magistrates,” Singh further said.

Verification will be undertaken on a weekly basis and where eligible applications exceed the available district quota, an online draw of lots will be conducted.

Beneficiaries will also be eligible to avail applicable purchase incentives under the prevailing Delhi EV Policy 2026, he added. PTI SSM

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
