New Delhi, Sep 3 (PTI) A minor girl’s family and their neighbours allegedly assaulted each other in northwest Delhi’s Rohini following an altercation over the girl’s complaint of inappropriate behaviour by a neighbour, police said on Thursday.
The incident occurred in the Prashant Vihar area on Wednesday evening after the girl allegedly objected to the behaviour of the boy, who lives in the neighbourhood, police said.
According to the girl, the boy had been pursuing her for the past few days. On Wednesday around 8 pm, she was going to the market when he allegedly followed her and tried to hold her hand.
“I shouted, and when my brother noticed this, he shouted back at the boy. He is our neighbour. Later, the family members of the boy reached our home and thrashed us. My mother sustained injuries,” the girl alleged.
Police have registered a case at the Prashant Vihar police station based on the minor’s complaint, which includes allegations of misbehaviour and the use of indecent language by the accused.
The incident was followed by a scuffle between the girl’s family and the alleged accused and his mother, police said.
According to police, the girl’s family retaliated, with the boy allegedly being struck on the head by the girl’s mother and grandmother during the altercation.
The accused has been arrested in connection with the case, police said, adding that further investigation is underway. Police are examining the circumstances leading to the altercation and the allegations made by both sides.
The girl and her family members were provided medical treatment following the incident.
