New Delhi, May 2 (PTI) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday paid tributes to the courage of the Indian Armed Forces at an event organised in the run-up to the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor.

In a post in Hindi on X, Gupta said she honoured the “indomitable courage and valour” of the armed forces while participating in the event.

The “Shaurya” programme at India Gate was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal A P Singh and Deputy Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Dheeraj Seth.

Gupta said under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the country has resolved to give a “crushing response” to terrorism and asserted that there would be no compromise on national security.

Describing Operation Sindoor as a symbol of decisive leadership and national resolve against terrorism, she said it reflects a “new India” that neither forgets nor bows down.

Singh, who attended the event as the chief guest, said, “I pay my heartfelt tributes to those brave soldiers whose sacrifice and valour keep our nation safe.” “The echo of their courage resonates across the country. I congratulate the organisers for hosting this historic Shaurya event during the Amrit Kaal of independence,” the defence minister added.

The event also featured performances by singer Anup Jalota, lyricist Manoj Muntashir, and singers Harshdeep Kaur and Kailash Kher, who paid tributes to the spirit of Operation Sindoor through music.

India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 last year in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. The operation targeted terror infrastructure in territories controlled by Pakistan.

The strikes triggered four days of intense clashes that ended with an understanding on stopping the military actions on May 10. PTI VBH RC
