New Delhi, Jun 5 (PTI) On the occasion of World Environment Day, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav launched 18 Namo Oxygen Parks from the Maidangarhi area in South Delhi on Friday.

The Union minister and the chief minister also planted saplings.

A few documents, including Delhi’s Working Plan 2026-27 to 2036-37 and the Delhi Bird Atlas, were also released at the event.

“This year, the Delhi government presented a green budget in which 21 per cent of the budget has been marked for green projects. The government has a target to plant 15 lakh plants this year,” Gupta said.

She said that the government not only wants to plant trees but is also focusing on protecting them, adding that all government departments have been asked to focus on developing green buildings and protecting trees.

“Increasing green cover in the city can help reduce air pollution. I would also like to suggest appointing caretakers for each of these Oxygen Parks and deploying local people for the caretaking work,” the chief minister added. PTI SSM VIT MPL MPL
