New Delhi, Jun 20 (PTI) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday said special cooling zones have been set up outside the 97 NEET-UG re-examination centres in the capital.

Gupta said this is the first time such waiting arrangements have been made for candidates and their accompanying family members.

“Delhi government has ensured that no family faces unnecessary difficulties related to transportation, heat or long waiting hours on the day of the exam,” she said.

The chief minister also said all NEET candidates will be allowed free travel on Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses on June 21 by producing their admit cards.

On Saturday, Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood inspected preparations for the re-examination at a CM Shri School in central Delhi’s Pandara Road and said arrangements have been made to ensure smooth conduct of the test scheduled for Sunday.

According to the minister, 97 examination centres have been set up across the capital for the NEET-UG re-examination, including 69 at Delhi government schools and 28 at Kendriya Vidyalayas.

Sood reiterated that special cooling zones have been set up at centres for students and parents, many of whom travel long distances to reach examination venues. The facilities include seating arrangements, drinking water, ORS, ‘shikanji’ and first-aid support.

Sood said the Delhi government has coordinated with various departments to ensure adequate arrangements at all centres and security measures have been put in place by the district administration and police.

The minister said Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is monitoring the preparations and issuing directions to the concerned departments.

Extending his wishes to candidates, Sood said the objective is to ensure that students can take the re-examination in a comfortable and stress-free environment despite the prevailing heat conditions.

The chief minister too extended best wishes to candidates and their families, asserting that the future of our youth is extremely important.

The state government is committed to providing every possible support and convenience to students during their education and competitive examinations, she said.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) on May 12 cancelled the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate), NEET-UG, held on May 3 amid allegations of paper leak. The re-examination is scheduled for Sunday, June 21. PTI SSM SHB ARB ARB
