New Delhi, Oct 26 (PTI) A 56-year-old man who used to set up rides at local fairs died after his scooty met with an accident on Rohtak Road in west Delhi’s Punjabi Bagh, police said on Monday.

The deceased, Rajesh Vig, a resident of Keshav Puram, was returning home from a fair in Peeragarhi when the accident occurred around 12.50 am near the Punjabi Bagh police quarters, opposite the Zakhira-bound stretch, they said.

A PCR call regarding the accident was received at Punjabi Bagh police station, following which a police team rushed to the spot and found the scooter, bearing Delhi-based registration number, abandoned there. The injured man had been shifted to Acharya Bhikshu Hospital, where doctors declared him dead, police said.

The mobile crime team inspected the scene, but no eyewitness could be traced, they said.

The body has been shifted to the mortuary of Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Police are initiating legal proceedings under relevant sections of the BNS in connection with the incident. Further investigation is underway. PTI SSJ APL

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
