Hardoi, Nov 6 (PTI) A couple and their three-month-old child were killed after their car fell into a canal in Uttar Pradesh’s Hardoi on Friday, police said.
One other car occupant escaped unhurt.
The accident took place near Jafarpur culvert under the Bilgram police station area when the car, carrying four people returning from Gurugram, went out of control and plunged into the canal around 4 am, they said.
On receiving information through the emergency helpline, a police team rushed to the spot and, with the help of villagers, rescued all four occupants from the canal.
The deceased were identified as Ramesh (35), his wife Neelam (32) and their three-month-old child. They were residents of Sarra village under the Sursa police station area in Hardoi, police said.
The fourth occupant, identified as Aditya Singh (28), was rescued safely.
The couple and the infant were taken to a hospital where doctors declared them dead.
Circle Officer Bilgram Ram Surat Sonkar said police reached the spot soon after receiving information and rescued all the occupants with the help of locals. PTI COR CDN NB
