New Delhi, Jul 11 (PTI) A 42-year-old construction worker died after falling from the fifth floor of an under-construction building in west Delhi’s Tilak Nagar, an official said on Saturday.
Police sources said that the incident happened despite a stop-work notice issued by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Bhola, a native of Bihar’s Supaul district who lived in Keshopur village in Tilak Nagar and worked as a labourer.
According to the police, the incident took place around 2.40 pm on Friday at an under-construction building. Bhola allegedly lost his balance while working on the fifth floor and fell to the ground.
He was rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital by fellow workers, where doctors declared him dead.
Police said a case has been registered on the complaint of the victim’s brother, who alleged that adequate safety measures were not in place at the construction site, police said.
During the investigation, police found that the MCD had earlier issued a notice directing that construction at the property be stopped. However, work was allegedly continuing despite the order.
Police are investigating the matter. PTI BM MPL MPL
