Bhopal, July 15 (PTI) The Congress will intensify protests from “streets to Parliament” if exam paper leak cases are not resolved within a month and culprits not punished, Madhya Pradesh state unit president Jitu Patwari said on Wednesday. Addressing a gathering at “Youth Self-Respect: Gen-G Cyclothon” in Bhopal, which began in Indore under the “Chhatraon Ki Goonj” campaign, he said the Congress will continue its struggle from the streets to Parliament to protect education, transparent recruitment, employment, and the future of the young generation.
State Congress in-charge Harish Chaudhary said the “Chhatraon Ki Goonj” campaign is a mass movement to fight for education, employment, and the rights of the youth.
He alleged that the education system is in decline, with government schools being closed, exams lacking transparency, and the future of the youth being compromised.
“Irregularities in NEET and other examinations have raised serious questions about the education system,” he said, adding that classrooms in colleges and universities are empty because the unemployment crisis is deepening.
He said the government is neither able to provide employment to the youth nor relief to farmers and fair opportunities to students.
Patwari claimed more than 200,000 people joined the ‘Schools’ Goonj Abhiyan’ started by Rahul Gandhi in Madhya Pradesh.
“During 12 years of the Modi government, paper leaks occurred 90 times and more than 50 exams had to be cancelled. Scams have been continuously exposed in recruitment exams, including Vyapam, in Madhya Pradesh,” he alleged.
Opposition leader Umang Singhar said that ‘Chhatraon Ki Goonj’ is not just a cyclothon, but a mass movement to fight for the country’s democracy, youth rights, and future.
He invoked Chandrashekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh, and Mahatma Gandhi to appeal to the youth to come forward to protect democracy and the Constitution.
Congress leaders demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on moral grounds for “irregularities” in the education system, including the NEET-UG exam scandal.
The NEET-UG exam for admission held on May 3 was later cancelled following allegations of question paper leaks. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is investigating the matter. The re-examination was held on June 21 amid tight security.
