Ranchi, Nov 7 (PTI) Jharkhand Congress on Saturday filed a police complaint against senior BJP leaders, including state president Aditya Sahu and Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, over their alleged defamatory remarks against state Health Minister Irfan Ansari.
This comes a day after the BJP lodged a police complaint against Ansari over his alleged provocative remarks.
“We have filed a complaint at Jagannathpur police station seeking registration of an FIR against BJP leaders, including Sanjay Seth, Aditya Sahu, Deepak Prakash, Bhanu Pratap Shahi and others, for making defamatory remarks against Ansari, spreading communal discord, disrupting social harmony and inciting the public,” Jharkhand Congress general secretary Alok Dubey told reporters.
He alleged that BJP leaders distorted Ansari’s statement before presenting it to the public, which created confusion, distrust and unnecessary tension within society.
“Ansari’s statement that 40 lakh youths are waiting for Rahul Gandhi’s nod is not undemocratic, but BJP is threatening him by registering a police complaint,” Dubey said.
A BJP delegation led by former state president Deepak Prakash lodged a complaint at Argora police station and sought legal action against Ansari for his alleged provocative remarks.
Speaking to PTI Videos on Thursday, the Congress leader claimed that youth, farmers, the middle class, Dalits, tribals and Muslims are in trouble under the BJP regime and anger is building among them.
“I went to Delhi and spoke to students there. Forty lakh youth are out on the streets. They are waiting for just one command. They will not go beyond what Rahul Gandhi says. Rahul Gandhi held these young people back,” he said.
If the prime minister does not become alert, an emergency-like situation will emerge in the country, he claimed, adding, “The situation will be worse than that of Bangladesh and Nepal.” PTI SAN SAN MNB
